Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une imitation italienne de <em>L\u2019Exorciste<\/em> de Friedkin par un sp\u00e9cialiste de la copie non conforme, Alberto De Martino (apr\u00e8s quelques faux \u00ab\u00a0James Bond\u00a0\u00bb son <em>Holocauste 2000<\/em> louchait sur <em>La Mal\u00e9diction<\/em>, son <em>Conseiller<\/em> sur <em>Le Parrain<\/em>.) C&rsquo;est dans leur non conformit\u00e9 \u00e0 leurs mod\u00e8les avou\u00e9s que les films les plus aboutis de Alberto De Martino, solide faiseur, deviennent int\u00e9ressants et parfois passionnants. Les \u00ab\u00a0copies\u00a0\u00bb de De Martino d\u00e9coulent de l\u2019opportunisme mercantile des producteurs italiens (dans le cas pr\u00e9sent, Edmondo Amati), mais ce ne sont pas de vulgaires plagiats. Elles poss\u00e8dent leur propre personnalit\u00e9, fonci\u00e8rement latine, et une d\u00e9mesure dont seuls furent capables les films de genre transalpins. <em>L\u2019Ant\u00e9christ<\/em> en est sans doute la plus belle preuve.<\/p>\n<p>Il s\u2019agit dans le genre d\u2019une incontestable r\u00e9ussite b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiant d\u2019un budget confortable, d\u2019une brillante distribution et d\u2019une direction artistique soign\u00e9e. A l\u2019affiche de <em>L\u2019Ant\u00e9christ <\/em>se bousculent plusieurs vedettes italiennes ou am\u00e9ricaines, qui cachetonnent avec une conviction exceptionnelle : Carla Gravina dans le r\u00f4le principal de la jeune femme poss\u00e9d\u00e9e, Mel Ferrer (son p\u00e8re), Arthur Kennedy (un \u00e9v\u00eaque du Vatican), George Coulouris, Alida Valli, Umberto Orsini\u2026 tous excellents. La photographie est sign\u00e9e Aristide Massaccesi, talentueux chef-op qui allait bient\u00f4t devenir c\u00e9l\u00e8bre en tant que r\u00e9alisateur chez les amateurs de sensations fortes sous le pseudonyme de Joe D\u2019Amato.<\/p>\n<p><em>L\u2019Ant\u00e9christ<\/em> se d\u00e9marque totalement de son mod\u00e8le en choisissant le registre du m\u00e9lodrame familial et incestueux. La magnifique premi\u00e8re partie du film, baroque et d\u00e9cadente en diable, filme des aristocrates romains comme des statues emmur\u00e9es dans un palais en forme de s\u00e9pulture. Le film montre la puissance occulte de l\u2019\u00c9glise et la persistance des rites superstitieux et nous entra\u00eene dans un monde archa\u00efque et sombre. Le film baigne dans un sentiment permanent de p\u00e9ch\u00e9, profond\u00e9ment catholique romain dans ses d\u00e9chainements paradoxaux de sadisme, de culpabilit\u00e9 et de transgression. Une sc\u00e8ne onirique de sabbat constitue un moment d\u2019effroi et de malaise particuli\u00e8rement notable parmi d\u2019autres moments de bravoure choquants et d\u00e9rangeants qui d\u00e9fient la logique et la raison au profit d\u2019une approche op\u00e9ratique.<\/p>\n<p>Le recours volontiers exhibitionniste \u00e0 des d\u00e9cors de studios, des transparences et des effets sp\u00e9ciaux primitifs ouvre une perspective picturale des plus remarquables et un m\u00e9pris de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 sociale. \u00c0 mi-chemin des <em>Damn\u00e9s<\/em> et <em>Violence et Passion<\/em> de Visconti, des <em>Frissons de l\u2019angoisse<\/em> de Dario Argento et du roman-photo, <em>L\u2019Ant\u00e9christ<\/em> constitue avec <em>Holocauste 2000<\/em> un formidable diptyque et la plus notable contribution de De Martino au cin\u00e9ma de genre europ\u00e9en.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18021\" style=\"width: 1210px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-18021\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18021\" src=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/lantc3a9christ-1974.jpg\" alt=\"Carla Gravina dans L'Ant\u00e9christ\" width=\"1200\" height=\"916\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/lantc3a9christ-1974.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/lantc3a9christ-1974-367x280.jpg 367w, https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/lantc3a9christ-1974-768x586.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/lantc3a9christ-1974-1006x768.jpg 1006w, https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/lantc3a9christ-1974-580x443.jpg 580w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-18021\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Carla Gravina dans L&rsquo;Ant\u00e9christ<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Il est r\u00e9jouissant de pouvoir go\u00fbter une nouvelle fois aux charmes enivrants de ce film fantastique italien pas comme les autres (et mieux que les autres), vu et revu dans des copies abim\u00e9es et tronqu\u00e9es dans les salles de quartier ou en VHS dans des versions encore plus mauvaises dans un beau transfert num\u00e9rique en version int\u00e9grale non censur\u00e9e qui permet d\u2019appr\u00e9cier \u00e0 sa juste valeur le travail d\u2019Alberto De Martino et de ses collaborateurs \u2013 tout le g\u00e9nie artisanal d\u2019un certain cin\u00e9ma italien populaire.<\/p>\n<p>Parmi les compl\u00e9ments on saluera les interventions de Christophe Gans qui parle tr\u00e8s bien du film et de ses qualit\u00e9s particuli\u00e8res, et aussi de la contribution \u2013 non n\u00e9gligeable &#8211; de Ennio Morricone et Bruno Nicolai qui sign\u00e8rent la bande originale du film.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L\u2019\u00e9diteur ind\u00e9pendant Le Chat qui fume qui d\u00e9ploie une louable \u00e9nergie \u00e0 exhumer des perles rares et v\u00e9n\u00e9neuses du cin\u00e9ma\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":116,"featured_media":18020,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[9],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.8 -
