Un double programme pneus donc, aussi impr\u00e9visible que r\u00e9jouissant\u00a0: les deux films partagent en effet un sens inattendu de l\u2019absurde et de la monstruosit\u00e9. Star de la sc\u00e8ne \u00e9lectro pop sous le pseudonyme de Mr Oizo, Quentin Dupieux enregistre en 1997 son premier succ\u00e8s, \u00ab\u00a0Flat Beat\u00a0\u00bb, interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 dans le vid\u00e9oclip par une marionnette jaune, Flat Eric, qui deviendra la vedette des publicit\u00e9s pour les jeans Levi\u2019s. En quelques ann\u00e9es Quentin Dupieux est \u00e9galement devenu le cin\u00e9aste le plus excentrique du cin\u00e9ma fran\u00e7ais, encha\u00eenant les films comme autant de provocations en forme de gestes esth\u00e9tiques sans \u00e9quivalent.<\/p>\n<p>En 2001 il r\u00e9alise <i>Nonfilm<\/i>, qui existe sous plusieurs versions, et en 2007 <i>Steak,<\/i> splendide accident industriel qui voit le musicien cin\u00e9aste aux manettes d\u2019une com\u00e9die grand public avec le duo de rigolos Eric et Ramzy, tr\u00e8s populaire aupr\u00e8s des enfants et des adolescents. Entre science-fiction et burlesque, <i>Steak<\/i> invente un comique inqui\u00e9tant, o\u00f9 le rire na\u00eet du d\u00e9calage entre notre monde et l\u2019univers mi futuriste mi r\u00e9tro du film.<\/p>\n<p><i>Rubber<\/i>, son troisi\u00e8me opus, confirme le talent hors norme de Dupieux, bient\u00f4t suivi par <i>Wrong<\/i>, <i>Wrong Cops<\/i> et <i>R\u00e9alit\u00e9<\/i> avec Alain Chabat, dont la sortie est pr\u00e9vue \u00e0 la rentr\u00e9e, tous tourn\u00e9s \u00e0 Los Angeles et produits par Gregory Bernard.<\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/fr\/olivierpere\/files\/rubber-poster.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/fr\/olivierpere\/files\/rubber-poster.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"741\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/rubber-poster.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/rubber-poster-188x280.jpg 188w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a>Rubber<\/i> imagine un pneu tueur en s\u00e9rie psychopathe et t\u00e9l\u00e9pathe, semant sa route de cadavres (animaux puis humains qu\u2019il fait exploser \u00e0 distance) entre le d\u00e9sert californien et les motels de la r\u00e9gion, obs\u00e9d\u00e9 par une tr\u00e8s belle jeune femme voyageant seule et qu\u2019il a pris en chasse. Nous sommes entre le documentaire animalier produit par Walt Disney et la fable surr\u00e9aliste. Le cin\u00e9ma de Dupieux \u00e9voque Tati, Bu\u00f1uel, Lynch, avec une part de jubilation qui n\u2019appartient qu\u2019\u00e0 lui et en font un artiste pr\u00e9cieux et libre. On peut voir <i>Rubber <\/i>comme le manifeste du \u00ab\u00a0no reason\u00a0\u00bb, philosophie de l\u2019existence exprim\u00e9e par le sh\u00e9rif au d\u00e9but du film, un voyage au bout de l\u2019absurde. C\u2019est aussi un bel exemple de fantastique hyperr\u00e9aliste et f\u00e9tichiste, o\u00f9 l\u2019irrationnel surgit des objets de consommations les plus quotidiens et banals. C\u2019est aussi un exercice cin\u00e9philique r\u00e9f\u00e9renc\u00e9, ultime avatar des \u00ab\u00a0slashers\u00a0\u00bb postmodernes engendr\u00e9s par le succ\u00e8s de <i>Psychose<\/i> d\u2019Alfred Hitchcock, avec la r\u00e9utilisation des m\u00eames d\u00e9cors (motel, route), les motifs du meurtre et du voyeurisme et la reproduction de la fameuse sc\u00e8ne de douche. La figure du \u00ab\u00a0serial killer\u00a0\u00bb dans le cin\u00e9ma am\u00e9ricain effraie parce qu\u2019elle prend l\u2019apparence d\u2019un voisin ordinaire ou d\u2019une silhouette anonyme. Dupieux va encore plus loin dans l\u2019horreur domestique en transformant un objet manufactur\u00e9 en force d\u00e9r\u00e9gl\u00e9e et meurtri\u00e8re, comme avant lui John Carpenter (<i>Christine<\/i>) ou Stephen King (<i>Maximum Overdrive<\/i>) mais en explicitant la dimension burlesque d\u2019un tel postulat. <i>Rubber<\/i> est enfin un r\u00e9cit gigogne o\u00f9 le r\u00e9alisateur place des spectateurs \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur du film, en train d\u2019observer l\u2019action avec des jumelles comme des touristes en visite guid\u00e9e et de faire des commentaires d\u00e9sobligeants ou dubitatifs sur ce qu\u2019ils voient.
