{"id":1164,"date":"2011-05-31T15:44:07","date_gmt":"2011-05-31T14:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/olivierpere.wordpress.com\/?p=1164"},"modified":"2013-08-02T18:53:44","modified_gmt":"2013-08-02T17:53:44","slug":"apocalypse-now-de-francis-ford-coppola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/2011\/05\/31\/apocalypse-now-de-francis-ford-coppola\/","title":{"rendered":"Apocalypse Now de Francis Ford Coppola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;font-size: 10pt\">Le premier Blu-ray que j\u2019ai achet\u00e9 est l\u2019\u00e9dition fran\u00e7aise (Path\u00e9) d\u2019<em>Apocalypse Now<\/em> qui contient les deux versions du film (celle de 79 et la Redux de 2001) ainsi que l\u2019extraordinaire documentaire <em>Au c\u0153ur des t\u00e9n\u00e8bres<\/em> (<em>Hearts of Darkness\u00a0: A Filmmaker\u2019s Apocalypse<\/em>) r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par Eleanor Coppola (la femme du cin\u00e9aste), Fax Bahr et George Hickenlooper et sorti en 1991, qui retrace la gen\u00e8se et l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u00e9mentielles de ce film hors-norme, gr\u00e2ce au journal film\u00e9 tenu par Eleanor tout au long de l\u2019interminable tournage aux Philippines.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1173\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/olivierpere.wordpress.com\/2011\/05\/31\/apocalypse-now-de-francis-ford-coppola\/apocalypse-now-redux-002-1000094431_lr\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1173\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1173\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1173\" title=\"Dennis Hopper et Martin Sheen dans Apocalypse Now Redux de Francis Ford Coppola (2001)\" alt=\"Dennis Hopper et Martin Sheen dans Apocalypse Now Redux (2001)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.arte.tv\/sites\/olivierpere\/files\/2011\/05\/apocalypse-now-redux-002-1000094431_lr.jpg?w=1024\" width=\"1024\" height=\"792\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1173\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dennis Hopper et Martin Sheen dans <em>Apocalypse Now Redux<\/em> (2001)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial;font-size: 10pt\"><br \/>\nUne nouvelle vision d&rsquo;<em>Apocalypse Now Redux <\/em>permet de revenir sur cette version d\u00e9finitive (soit environ 195 minutes au lieu des 146 minutes initiales) du chef-d&rsquo;\u0153uvre de Francis Ford Coppola. Montr\u00e9 dans une copie de travail au Festival de Cannes en 1979, le film, fruit d&rsquo;un an de tournage \u00e9prouvant et de deux ans de montage, obtient la Palme d&rsquo;Or, et un gros succ\u00e8s mondial qui permit de faire oublier les d\u00e9passements de budget. Vingt-deux ans plus tard, Coppola a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de r\u00e9int\u00e9grer le m\u00e9trage qu&rsquo;il avait du supprimer de la version initiale, afin de livrer un film d&rsquo;une longueur plus acceptable pour le public. Car l&rsquo;\u00e9chec financier d&rsquo;<em>Apocalypse Now<\/em>, dans lequel il avait investi sa fortune personnelle, e\u00fbt \u00e9t\u00e9 pour lui un d\u00e9sastre. Parmi les sc\u00e8nes coup\u00e9es, la plus mythique concerne \u00e9videmment l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e de Martin Sheen et de ses hommes dans une plantation fran\u00e7aise, vestige oubli\u00e9 de la colonie indochinoise, dans laquelle un patriarche, entour\u00e9 de sa famille et de quelques soldats, refuse de quitter son domaine et \u00ab\u00a0son\u00a0\u00bb pays. Cet \u00e9pisode \u00ab\u00a0europ\u00e9en\u00a0\u00bb aux accents viscontiens rompt d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment avec l&rsquo;ensemble du film (plut\u00f4t wellesien), par les th\u00e8mes abord\u00e9s (la comparaison des deux conflits vietnamiens) et l&rsquo;apparition d&rsquo;une jeune femme interpr\u00e9t\u00e9e par Aurore Cl\u00e9ment, avec laquelle Willard fumera de l&rsquo;opium. L\u2019esth\u00e9tique de la s\u00e9quence lui conf\u00e8re une dimension presque surnaturelle, puisque les colons fran\u00e7ais y sont clairement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s comme des fant\u00f4mes ou des morts en sursis oubli\u00e9s par le temps et l\u2019histoire, bloqu\u00e9s dans les ann\u00e9es 50. Parmi les bonus, on retiendra les deux conf\u00e9rences de presse \u00e0 Cannes. En 1979 Coppola, accompagn\u00e9 de ses enfants (Roman et Sofia, futurs cin\u00e9astes), proph\u00e9tise le cin\u00e9ma num\u00e9rique. En 2001, entour\u00e9 de ses fid\u00e8les collaborateurs dont le d\u00e9corateur Dean Tavoularis et le directeur de la photographie Vittorio Storaro,\u00a0 il esp\u00e8re encore tourner des films \u00e0 la hauteur de ses r\u00eaves, malgr\u00e9 la situation actuelle de la production am\u00e9ricaine sacrifi\u00e9e au b\u00e9n\u00e9fice imm\u00e9diat. Il y parviendra en 2007, apr\u00e8s une \u00e9clipse de pr\u00e8s de 10 ans, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa fortune personnelle, avec deux films autoproduits tourn\u00e9s en num\u00e9rique et en \u00e9quipe r\u00e9duite en Roumanie et en Argentine\u00a0: <em>L\u2019Homme sans \u00e2ge<\/em>, curieuse m\u00e9diation philosophique d\u2019apr\u00e8s Mirc\u00e9a Eliade interpr\u00e9t\u00e9e par Tim Roth, suivi de <em>Tetro<\/em> deux ans plus tard, son film le plus autobiographique, v\u00e9ritable \u0153uvre de jeunesse sign\u00e9e au cr\u00e9puscule de sa carri\u00e8re, avec un magnifique Vincent Gallo. Une utopie de cin\u00e9ma devenue r\u00e9alit\u00e9, par un des seuls v\u00e9ritables visionnaires du cin\u00e9ma am\u00e9ricain. Cet \u00e9t\u00e9 au Festival del film Locarno, l\u2019hommage rendu \u00e0 Mike Medavoy permettra d\u2019\u00e9voquer l\u2019odyss\u00e9e d\u2019<em>Apocalypse Now <\/em>(qui sera projet\u00e9 sur grand \u00e9cran dans sa version Redux). Medavoy dirigeait en effet United Artists lorsque Coppola lui demanda de coproduire le film avec lui et sa nouvelle compagnie Zootrope.
