[caption id="attachment_56457" align="alignleft" width="195"]Logo ARTE 1992 [/caption] ARTE goes on air on the evening of the 30th May 1992.  From its base in Strasbourg, the channel transmits its first simultaneous analogue transmission to most households on both sides of the Rhine. In France in May from 5pm via satellite (TDF 1-2) and in September from 7pm on analogue terrestrial network (Telcom 2B satellite) for 72% households. In Germany via DFS1 Copernicus and the Astra 1D satellite from 1994 for an extra 6 million households.
