In Greece, the coastguard has taken to pushing back potential asylum seekers towards Turkish waters. That's despite the fact that once in Europe, these people have a right to apply for asylum and to have that application processed. But while this tactic is against EU human rights law, the Greek government have a promise to keep to its electorate: reducing the flow of migrants.

During the migrant crisis of 2015, Sweden stepped up to the plate and welcomed 162,877 asylum seekers. Among them, 24,000 were unaccompanied minors from Afghanistan. The numbers overwhelmed immigration authorities who were unable to process their applications before they reached adulthood. But the moment they turn eighteen, their chances of getting asylum drops dramatically.
