Zurich Opera House
The Opernhaus Zurich is Switzerland’s largest cultural institution. As a joint-stock company with more than 2,400 private shareholders, it has remained in private hands to this day. Wilhelm Furtwängler launched his career here and Nikolaus Harnoncourt was active here for nearly forty years. Among the major works premiered here were Alban Berg’s Lulu and Arnold Schoenberg’s Moses und Aron.
