Migration: Turkey puts pressure on Cyprus

Using student visas, many migrants transit through Istanbul to land in Northern Cyprus, which is controlled by Turkey. They then cross on foot or by car to the southern part of the divided island, which is a member of the European Union. More than 18,500 people made this journey last year. Cypriot authorities are calling out Turkey's manipulation of the situation.
