Since Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022, men between the ages of 18 and 60 have been forbidden from leaving Ukrainian soil. For fear of being conscripted and sent off to fight in the war, many have decided to flee to neighbouring Romania. It’s a dangerous and sometimes fatal journey to exile, but hundreds continue to cross the border.
