For their opening concert, Joana Mallwitz and the Orchestra of the Berlin Konzerthaus present the bubbling energy of Sergei Prokofiev, the elegant subtlety of Kurt Weill and the epic grandeur of Gustav Mahler. The first symphonies by these three composers were chosen to mark the event and the debut of the first female conductor of a Berlin orchestra.
