How much does an MEP earn? Is the amount justified? What does an MEP actually do? On one hand, a typical working week for an MEP can easily reach 60 hours – with meetings in parliament, committee work, preparation, discussions with journalists... On the other, there are those who take advantage of the generous and not particularly well regulated expenses system. So are MEPs overpaid?

This programme by Belgian broadcaster RTBF is part of the European Collection, a joint initiative from European public service media (ARD, ARTE, France Télévisions, SRG SSR, RTBF and ZDF), coordinated by ARTE.
