Inflation in EuropeSpain Heads Up Europe
For the 5th time since it joined the EU in 1986, Madrid will take over the reins of the Council of the European Union for six months. This presidency comes at a tense time in Spain. Early general elections have been called for 25 July 2023, and according to the opinion polls, could result in a change of majority in favour of the conservative Popular Party. But what is also worrying is the possible arrival in power of the far right. Profoundly pro-European, Spain appears to be gripped by uncertainty more than 40 years after the fall of Francoism.
