Lady Agnes Holland and her husband, diplomat Sir Hallam Holland, move into the house at 165 Eaton Place. Rose Buck, from the original series, is tasked with overseeing the staff. Reluctantly, she hires the rebellious maid Ivy with the red-painted fingernails, but the budget is tight. Soon, the house shines in new splendour. Lady Maud Holland, Sir Holland's mother, has also decided to move in and offers advice to her daughter-in-law that doesn't always have the desired effect. An uninvited guest at their party must disappear before his visit becomes known to everyone...
