Fleeing the October Revolution in 1917, Sergei Rachmaninov left Russia, never to return. In the early 1930s, he found refuge in Switzerland. Riccardo Chailly and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra continue the Rachmaninov cycle begun in 2019. This summer's programme includes the Symphony No. 2 and the Piano Concerto No. 2 with the young Japanese soloist Mao Fujita.
