At the end of the 19th century, two inexperienced young settlers, Joao de Mattos and Sant’Anna, disembark in the middle of the Portuguese Congo. Driven by their thirst for gold and their desire to civilise the native people, they have come to coordinate a trading outpost of the Portuguese Shipping Company. Hugo Veira Da Silva’s film is adapted from Joseph Conrad’s eponymous short story.
