In Ireland, cheap peat is still used for heating. Although the country has already stopped industrial peat extraction to protect the climate, locals are allowed to dig it out for their own use. It's a cheap, plentiful fuel in the middle of an energy crisis: letting go won't be an easy task. But peat is a climate killer.
