Andreas Fath is a chemistry teacher who has set himself a daunting challenge: Swimming the Danube from its source in the Black Forest to the Black Sea. This keen swimmer plans to stay in the water for two months, hoping to cover about 50 km a day, or 2 700 km in total. This sporting feat also has a scientific purpose: to raise awareness of microplastic pollution.
