In May 1961, the artist Piero Manzoni creates his most famous and successful artwork in Milan: Merda d'Artista. It consists of 90 tin cans, each allegedly containing 30 grams of the artist's excrement. These cans are weighed and priced to match the value of gold at the time of production.
