On 1st February, Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested by the army, which declared a state of emergency and gave full powers to commander-in-chief, Min Aung Hlaing. The military believes that if they crush dissent, the Burmese people will have no choice but to accept the new regime. But the junta underestimated just how brave their own people could be.
