Auvers-sur-Oise: Vincent van Gogh's Wheat FieldsCity Country Culture

Northwest of Paris, behind wheat fields and windswept plains, is the picturesque village of Auvers-sur-Oise, which depends on agriculture and tourism. At the end of the 19th century the painter Vincent van Gogh came to the village and spent the last few weeks before his death there. Despite his anguish, he created numerous works here in which he immortalised the nature of the village.
