In the Netherlands, drug trafficking gangs force farmers to give them access to their barns. The buildings are turned into illegal ecstasy and methamphetamine laboratories, pumping out drugs to sell on the European market. The waste from these labs often ends up just being dumped into the countryside, causing widespread ecological damage. The gangs are powerful and at times brazen. Police and local authorities know that cracking down on the trade puts them in the traffickers' crosshairs.
