The Turow open cast mine in Poland, lying on the border with Germany and the Czech Republic, is threatened with closure. The Poles want to keep the mine open to protect local jobs whereas the neighbouring Czech and German towns and villages worry how the huge coal mine is affecting the groundwater and their houses.
