When it comes to retirement, Swiss women are far worse off than their male counterparts. That’s because many women with husbands work part-time or stop working altogether to care for their children. Although they’ve contributed to their partner’s income, they haven’t managed to set aside savings for themselves. And if they decide to part ways, many fall into poverty.

 This programme of the Swiss channel SRG SSR is part of The European Collection, a joint initiative of European public media (ARD, ARTE, France Télévisions, SSR SRG and ZDF), coordinated by ARTE.
