Tuesday 14 August 1945: three months after the end of the war in Europe, and a few days after the atomic bombs fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the American president Harry Truman announces the surrender of Japan. Within minutes, crowds filled the streets of American cities to celebrate. But who filmed these jubilant scenes?
