Works by György Ligeti, Franz Schubert, John Dowland, György Kurtàg and others

20th century masterpieces take centre stage in the first of two Camerata Salzburg concerts at the Salzburg Festival in 2020. A leading conductor of 20th century music and a frequent guest in Salzburg for many years, Ingo Metzmacher, celebrated for his interpretations of Bernd Alois Zimmermann's “Die Soldaten” and Wolfgang Rihm's “Dionysos” joins forces with Patricia Kopatchinskaja, probably one of the most refreshing and profound violinists with an eye for the substantial. Together they devote themselves to the works of Ligeti and Kurtag and span an arc from modernism to romanticism with works by Franz Schubert, including arrangements by the violinist.
