This is the story of death and survival, exclusion and hope told by those who lived through it. 40 years ago an HIV infection seemed like a death sentence. When the first patients fell ill with high fever, pneumonia and fungal infections in the early 1980s, doctors were at a loss. Most of those affected were gay men, but the cause of the mystery illness escaped them.
After much protests and medical advancements, the stigma of HIV has lessened but the virus is still with us.

The Life of a Young Person in Psychiatric Care

For patients with Parkinson's disease, boxing has long been considered an excellent form of exercise for training the mind to multitask – as well as for releasing the frustration often felt by sufferers of the disease. In the Netherlands, the province of Gelderland is offering boxing classes to people with Parkinson's, who say that the training has also given them a sense of community.

This programme by German channel ZDF is part of The European Collection, a joint initiative of European public media (ARD, ARTE, France Télévisions, SSR SRG and ZDF), coordinated by ARTE.
