Sniffer dogs rescue Italy's olive groves

Paco the dog has recently been given a new task. The 3-year-old Labrador from Puglia, Italy, is being trained to sniff out a bacterial plant pathogen that can infest trees so that they can quickly be taken out of circulation. Because for several years now, the region has seen a massive decline in its tree population.

This programme by German channel ZDF is part of The European Collection, a joint initiative of European public media (ARD, ARTE, France Télévisions, SRG SSR and ZDF), coordinated by ARTE.
