Sicily’s avocado boom

In Sicily, more and more farmers are growing avocados. Sold for more than citrus fruit, the so-called “superfood” is a profitable product that is becoming increasingly popular with local consumers. Farmer Andrea Passanisi harvests about 1,400 a year at the foot of Mount Etna, where the humid climate is optimal for avocado cultivation.
