Hard Life - I made it out of the projects
Six years ago, Hadir and her family were forced to flee Iraq. They found refuge in Germany, where they lived in emergency shelters for refugees and low-income council housing close to Cologne for years. But they eventually made it out. To keep it that way, Hadir works long hours waitressing at a café alongside the training she does at a local GP surgery.
This programme by German channel ARD is part of The European Collection, a joint initiative of European public media (ARD, ARTE, France Télévisions, SRG SSR and ZDF), coordinated by ARTE.
