The penultimate stage of this great Beethovenian journey is live from Strasbourg as the eighth symphony comes to life with Slovenian conductor Marko Letonja leading the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra. Composed in 1812 and premiered in Vienna in February 181, this symphony is particularly short and extremely joyful. Returning to a more classical style, close to Haydn and Mozart, it retains Beethoven's signature genius. The eighth is followed by Romance No. 2 for violin with Charlotte Juillard as soloist.
