Miss Austen Regrets
Jane Austen is haunted by her past of ill-fated romances with young men of no fortune and her refusal to enter into a marriage of convenience because "everything must be preferred or endured rather than marrying without affection."
Based on her diaries and correspondence with her sister Cassandra, this film delves into intimate and lesser-known aspects of the author's life: her struggles with her publisher, simply because she was a woman; her brothers' financial problems; and her determination to emancipate herself by earning a living.
