The Lux Audience Award is the European Parliament's prize for European cinema. 5 films have been nominated for the prestigious award.
Each year, the European Parliament organises free screenings of nominated films across the EU and invites European audiences to have their say by rating the films on luxaward.eu.Ten individuals will be selected from the voting public to attend an all-expenses-paid trip to the LUX Audience Award Ceremony in the European Parliament and be present for the official announcement of the winning film.
The nominated films are:
20,000 Species of Bees (Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren) – Spain
Fallen Leaves (Aki Kaurismäki) Finland, Germany
On the Adamant (Nicola Philibert) – France, Japan
Smoke Sauna Sisterhood (Anna Hints) – Estonia, France, Iceland
The Teacher’s Lounge (Ilker Çatak) - Germany
