It was only in 1964 with beloved US sitcom Bewitched that we finally got to see a loveable witch. Samantha, with her twitching nose, was played enchantingly by Elizabeth Montgomery, who had Scottish roots. And that’s quite a coincidence because in Scotland the witch-hunt was pursued much more vigorously than anywhere else. In fact, according to historians, there were four to five times more accusations of witchcraft in Scotland than the European average.
